THE BLANK CANVAS BEFORE
OUR CLIENT HAD A VERY A VERY CLEAR VISION FOR THE BRIEF. WE WERE ASKED TO CREATE A CLEAN, MINIMALIST 'GALLERY' AND A STRIKING DISPLAY WINDOW.
Crisp white walls and shelving provide the perfect immaculate canvas for display of Emerald's stunning products. The minimalist look is warmed and softened through the introduction of timber textures, marble and brass detailing.
The variation of different blonde woods used in flooring, cabinetry and the interior of the shopfront bring natural texture to the otherwise clean space. The brass elements create a radiant luminosity that will patina and subtly change in texture and colour over time.
THE SHOP FRONT
The refurbishment of the shopfront was limited due to the heritage of the building and the surrounding area.
We retained the existing glass and framework and clad over the interior and exterior faces to create a new facade on the street and framed display space.
In juxtaposition with the bright, airy interior we specified a black oiled timber cladding, creating a bold contrast between outside and in. We carried through the brass detailing to frame out the window and in the signage. The cladding carried over the entry door completely - we concealed any frame or hardware so that the window display is the main focal point from the street.
THE SHELVING UNITS
ANGLED MDF CARCASS LINED WITH WHITE LAMINATE INTERNALLY AND A FOLDED BRASS SHEET SKIN EXTERNALLY
The counter is wrapped in the same brass skin as the wall mounted shelves with a slab of marble placed delicately on top.
BRASS MESH SCREEN CHANGEROOMS
We wanted the changerooms towards the rear of the store to appear light - not to close off the space, but to add a layer of depth, silhouetting and shadows. For privacy within the cubicle when in use, a linen drape runs behind the screen.
